Star City: I Survived—We Survived!
Last January 24th 2010, 2 pm sharp, I and my three friends–Ycel, Anna, and May–went to Star City to find some jolly adventures in the scariest rides available. At about 8 pm, these four girls went home feeling happy and proud as confirmed survivors.
The trip was a reward to ourselves because we’ve been studying hard in school and working hard on our jobs. After months of kicking our asses off, we needed a break!
Due to ever-changing ideas for our big relaxation day, the trip was postponed many times. Someone suggested that we go swimming to get some physical exercises but—in the middle of December? Crazy! We’ll surely shiver and stutter after a single dip in the pool. The idea was instantly scrapped.
Another idea popped up: watch a movie! Avatar or Sherlock Holmes. Unfortunately, Christmas vacation had started so nothing came out of that plan.
The list went on and on: get pampered with a body spa, get a facial and skin treatment, join go-kart racing; then, lastly, get giddy in scary rides at the Star City.
Nothing stopped these four girls from coming to the Star City so we finally got our chance to unwind for several action-packed hours. Just check out our pictures to see how we enjoyed that day together.
The Journey and Adventures of CCP’s Amazon Warriors (Ang Paglalakbay at mga Abentura ng mga Amasonang Mandirigma ng CCP)
Note: CCP stands for Central Colleges of the Philippines
Destination 1 – Peter Pan (A mini-house where statues of the story characters and story tablets are displayed.)
It was our first time in Star City so we got lost and disoriented. Then something colorful and interesting caught our eyes—it’s the Peter Pan world! We rushed inside to take a look and lots of pictures. The lighting was gloomy but—what the heck!—we enjoyed grinning to our cameras. Yay!
Destination 2 – Blizzard (A mini-version of a roller coaster)
Whoaaaahhhh! Really a wild ride! My head rocked! It’s like riding a whirlwind. I got a stiff neck for fear of banging my head against the steel support. Shisshhh, my head was still floating even when my feet were back on the ground.
Destination 3 – Viking (A huge boat that moves like a pendulum)
My first thought was: this is gonna be a dizzy ride. But I was wrong. After the first few uncomfortably short swings, the large boat started swinging faster and higher until we all felt like flying up, up in the skies. But when we reached the highest peak, our souls felt like getting out of our bodies. What a weird feeling! Haha
Destination 4 – “Gabi Ng Lagim” or Night of Horror (A haunted house, where empty coffins and fake zombies are scattered around, is quite menacing to its visitors)
A big disappointment—because the over-all fright effect was not shocking enough. Coffins were creepy and zombies were everywhere but still—not a hair on my person was scared enough to rise. Thankfully, these amazon girls were there to just have fun so we ended up grabbing each other’s shoulders and screaming our heads off just for the heck of screaming. Our voices were hoarse when we got out of the fright house. Whew!
Destination 5 – Snow World ( A small world inside a big refrigerator)
We wanted to see some snow so we rushed inside the Snow World. Yay! The place should be called the Ice World because it’s just like a huge freezer. Yuh, yuh, we’re the brave amazon warriors but we forgot to bring our thick coats and jackets so we’re defeated by frostbites. Our feet and fingers were freezing when we finally surrendered. That adventure was simply crazy!
Destination 6 – Star Flyer (An inverted roller coaster)
My stomach was still churning—thanks to the Viking ride—so I skipped the Star Flyer. I valued my reputation as a brave warrior too much so I didn’t want to challenge my intestines. Ha! Don’t worry, there’s a short video to watch.

Destination 7 – Wild River (A man-made river with a long drop)
Eeek! I don’t want to get wet. The water’s eewww! This was my first reaction but I could not skip another ride—or else, my three warrior companions would tie me like a hog. To prove my bravery, I rode the Wide River and suffered the smelly water in silence. My skin crawled whenever water splashed at me. Yuk!
Destination 8 – Surf Dance (An air machine dancer? Or a machine dancer on air?)
Hep-hep-hurrah! At this stage, our two outstanding warriors were Ycel and May because they did not miss any rides—yet. They almost missed this one.
Anna and I were supposed to be seated between Ycel and May but we got mismatched. Anna ended up with me. She was screaming the whole time—alone. Ycel and May were frantically scratching and biting at one another because of panic. It was clear that I was the only one enjoying the air dance because I was smiling blissfully.
Destination 9 – Star Flyer: The Return (A roller coaster running upside down)
Yep! I finally gained enough courage to ride the Star Flyer. Whoa! What a fabulous ride it was. I should’ve tried it with Ycel and May earlier. It was a real joy feeling like a star flying in the skies. Weeeeh! I did not close my eyes because the view up there were simply wonderful. Amazing!
Destination 10 – Mummy House ( A house filled with mummies)
Yikes! It should be called the “House of Falling Mummy Heads”! Those mummified heads kept on going up and down like yoyos. It was quite unnerving because we did not want to get lumps on our heads. Aww!
Destination 11 – Carousel (A merry-go-round)
My feet were aching so I skipped the Carousel. Anyway, it looked dull and unexciting but the other three amazons seemed enjoying the merry-g-round so, I guess, I was just feeling homesick. Teehee!
Well, “the end” came when eight o’clock arrived. It’s time to go home—at last! Star City was fun but very, very tiring. We were not able to ride-all-we-can but these beauties had had enough rides. As souvenirs for such a gorgeous trip, we bought small keychains for ourselves. Check out my keychain!
See yah, guys, to Star City Part Two!
