How to lift up your spirit when you feel so down…
Are these situations familiar to you?
You lose your job…
You fell down the stairs in front of many people…
You missed a client because your computer failed to open…
You got a failing grade in your English subject…
You were late in your class and your teacher humiliated you in front of the class…
Your presentation messed up…
Your boyfriend/girlfriend just broke up with you…
Your… oh ok! You got the picture!
Whoever we are and in whatever we do, we might had experienced one (or more) of the situations that we categorized as “unfortunate”. Unfortunate because it made us feel sad and depressed. It’s quite normal to feel sad when something unexpectedly bad had happened to you, of course. We tend to dwell on the past and we keep on reminding ourselves about that “unlucky situation” – which is ‘unfortunately’ unhealthy for the mind and the spirit.
Bashing at your self isn’t going to help. It would just decrease your confidence and self esteem. The best thing we can do during these unfortunate moments in our life is to stay optimistic! Everything happens for a reason – always remember that! Learn from every possible way! Learn from your mistakes and learn from other people’s mistakes! Though, most of the times, we find it hard to be optimistic especially when everything falls down to us… but never lose hope! Positive outlook on life is the first step towards joy.
Simple Tips to Lift Up Your Spirit
Before I end this little blog of mine, I’d like to share some of my own ways on dealing with my “sad moments”.
1.) Read inspiring stories, articles, and quotes.
Reading happy stories is a good start! Just read everything that inspires you and makes you smile/laugh – anecdotes, poems or quotations. Feed yourself with “happy moments”. Don’t let depression eat you out.
Here are some of my favorite quotations:
“Every king was once a crying baby. And every great building was once a sketch. It’s not about where you are today but where you’ll be tomorrow.” – Unknown
“Destiny is not a matter of chance; it is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for; it is a thing to be achieved.” – Jeremy Kitson
“Things will happen in your life that you can’t stop, but that’s no reason to shut out the world. There’s a purpose for the good and for the bad” – Walter Sparrow, Now and Then
“Don’t’ let the low times keep you down. Learn from them and reach for the high times.” – David Wiemers
2.) Say motivating words.
Word is power. Keep saying positive words to yourself. Never never never belittle yourself!
“I’ll do better next time!”
“I’ll work hard even more next time!”
“I’ll be careful next time”
“I’ll be on-time next time”
And so on…
3.) Listen to energy boosting songs!
Sad love songs that have lonely notes/lyrics are not advisable. Pick on music that gives energy to you. Listen to live beats that’ll make you dance!
Here’s one good song that I love listening to:
Stay happy and positively motivated!
